The inaugural Coconut Cup was held Sunday, March 4, 2018, at Seven Mile Public Beach. Everything, including the warm sun, cool breeze and calm sea, seemed to be in favor of a successful social and family-orientated paddleboard event; with a kids’ paddle (under 14s), a 16-team corporate cup relay event and an individual one-mile paddle. From conception, the support from the event team to sponsors was very well received.

The event encouraged fitness, fun and asked participants and volunteers to consider the environment by bringing reusable water containers. Fresh fruit and coffee were available to all, with Josh Clark form the Farmacy chopping over 90 coconuts for thirsty team members and Smoothie King providing smoothies for the little ones.

Cayman Heart Fund Director and Hart for Hearts programme founder, Mr. Ben Hart, who organized the event, stated “Thank you to everyone that assisted in this event, it truly was a community initiative. Without everyone there, without the energy you brought, the event would not have been anywhere near a success as it was. We are already planning for next year!”

All proceeds benefit Hart for Hearts, the pediatric arm of the Cayman Heart Fund, which raises public awareness and provides financial assistance to families in Cayman when their child is born with a congenital heart defect.

A big thank you to all participants and our corporate sponsors:
